Management Team
emTRAiN was created to serve as a web-based method of training many employees at a time, on topics such as preventing harassment, equal employment opportunity, disability discrimination, and other HR related compliance issues.
CEO - Janine Yancey

In 2000, Janine founded emTRAiN in order to create a web-based method of training many employees at a time on topics such as preventing harassment, equal employment opportunity, disability discrimination, and other HR compliance issues. Prior to founding emTRAiN, Janine traveled around the country for several years, serving as a trainer to hundreds of managers and employees each day. That experience made it clear to her that web-based compliance training filled a need in the marketplace.
Janine has practiced labor and employment law for more than 15 years. Previously, she was with Liebert, Cassidy, California's largest and most respected public sector labor and employment law firm. She is qualified as an expert witness in investigations and has provided expert testimony regarding harassment investigations and harassment prevention training. In 2001, Janine first litigated and used the issue of workforce harassment training as an affirmative defense when she successfully defended a large city against sexual harassment charges in a jury trial.
Janine is a licensed Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and has served a term on the Board of Directors for the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA), a Bay Area affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Janine earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1992, where she served on Hastings's Constitutional Law Quarterly Journal. She earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1989 where she was a Dean's Scholar.
CTO - Nick Buskirk

Nick is the overall architect of emTRAiN's SaaS Learning Management System (LMS Dashboard) and eLearning courses which he designed to work together as a system for unparalleled compliance reporting and ease-of-use by non-technically minded end-users.
Nick's strategy to create a more powerful, flexible and affordable LMS was to run our system on a MySQL database, which offers high speed, high reliability, wide distribution, and ease of use. Along with the MySQL database, Nick chose a Linux operating system, Apache server, and PHP and Perl programming languages. This combination is referred to as a "LAMP" technology platform.
While LAMP programmers (like Nick) are a rare commodity, LAMP is an elegant and streamlined database application and is used in approximately 10 million installations, including such well-known companies as Yahoo, Google and Craig's List.
Nick attended University of California, Berkeley, where he studied economics and foreign languages and was a Dean's Scholar.
