Others see it as a practical necessity for high performing teams—and financial success for the organization. Mere lip service to diversity is not enough. Even the most ardent diversity advocates are challenged by day to day—even unintended—behaviors that compromise their organizations’ commitment to diversity. This course explains the benefits of diversity and is designed to increase employee awareness, help build teamwork, and minimize internal conflict—creating healthier and better performing teams. It also explores the challenges to diversity in the workplace. This course teaches learners the basics of identity filters, subconscious bias, and stereotypes, which are barriers not just to diversity and inclusion, but also to good communication, teamwork, and performance.
Diversity in the Workplace is designed to introduce employees to the concept of diversity and to translate what is often an esoteric, intellectual topic into practical examples that learners can grasp and appreciate. This course helps people understand and appreciate differences in backgrounds, cultures, and personality types. It introduces the concept of unconscious bias and explains how identity filters create barriers to inclusion, relationships, and performance. With an emphasis on the practical, this course also provides tips and guidance on how individual employees can promote and support inclusion and identify key commonalities among with coworkers.
